Khan played for the Pakistani cricket team from 1971 to 1992, and led them as captain to his country's first and only World Cup victory in 1992. With a record of 3807 runs and 362 wickets in Test cricket , Khan is known as one of the finest all-rounders in the modern history of the game. [1] In April 1996, he founded the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (Movement for Justice), a small and marginal political party, of which he is chairman as well as sole ever-elected member of Parliament . [2] He became a member of the National Assembly from Mianwali in October 2002, but resigned from office on October 2 , 2007 , in protest of General Pervez Musharraf 's presidential re-election as the Chief of Army Staff . He went to school in Lahore and then attended Oxford University where he was also Captain of the Oxford University Cricket team. He comes form a cricketing family with two of his cousins Javed Burke and Majid Khan also having played test cricket for Pakistan. He is married to Jemima (aka Haiqa) Khan who is the daughter of the late British millionaire Sir James Goldsmith. Jemima Khan embraced Islam before she married Imran Khan and now lives with him in Lahore, Pakistan.
